fractal pattern I made

The definitions of simplicity and complexity are very subjective, it is difficult to set the criteria. For example, we can't say easily that the fractal pattern I made is simple or complex. If you see it detailed, it can be felt complex, but its graphic is very simple if you see on the whole pattern which has some repetitive rules. So there is obviously a contradiction between 2 words.

People usually say that simple is best. Is that correct? I'm sure there is simplicity in every complexity. And we prefer the thing which has both simplicity and complexity. MUJI, which has the concept of simplicity, and minimalism, is the typical case. Most people like this brand whose products are simple and unrefined. But they also have complexity. We can feel the complexity from their texture because MUJI puts emphasis on recycling. Then why people like complexity, saying simple is best? I think it is because people want visual stress(wrong link).

단순함과 복잡함의 정의는 상당히 주관적인 것이라서 그 기준을 정하기가 모호하다. 예를 들어, 위의 패턴은 단순한 패턴일까, 아니면 복잡한 패턴일까. 하나 하나 살펴봤을 때에는 복잡하다고 느껴질지라도, 전체적인 구조를 생각해보면 일정한 규칙을 지니고 있기때문에 단순한 패턴이라고 할 수도 있다. 따라서 이 두가지 개념에는 모순이 존재한다.

심플한 것이 가장 좋다는 말이 있다. 이 말은 과연 옳은 것일까? 단순한 형태의 제품에도 분명히 복잡함이 존재한다. 그리고 사람들은 이 두 개념이 함께 있을 때 더 호감을 느낀다. MUJI가 대표적인 예라고 생각한다. MUJI는 단순함을 컨셉으로 하고 있고, 사람들은 이들의 단순하고 정제되지 않은 느낌의 디자인에 호감을 느낀다. 하지만 이들의 제품에도 복잡함은 존재한다. 재활용을 강조하다보니 질감적인 면에서 복잡함이 느껴지기 때문이다. 그렇다면 사람들이 단순함이 최고라고 말하면서도 복잡함 또한 선호하는 이유는 무엇일까? 나는 그 이유가 사람들이 무의식 중에 일정량의 시각적인 스트레스(잘못된 링크)를 받길 원하기 때문이라고 생각한다.
